Tell us a little about yourself and your family, how long you have lived in the area and your occupation:

My husband and I moved to Kootenai County in 1999. We have two adult children. Currently I am the District 3 Commissioner for Kootenai County.

1. Do you have experience as an elected official and if so, what was your position, and how would you describe your voting record?:

County Commissioner 2019 to 2025. Current Board Member and past President of Ohio Match Road Water District since 2011. My voting record is conservative pragmatism, pro property rights, less government, and lower taxes. I want provide the best service at the lowest cost possible, considering all county operations while following state statute.

2. Please tell us about your activity as a Republican. Have you previously voted for candidates of other parties? If yes, explain.:

I attend, volunteer for, and have hosted Republican events. I do not recall ever voting for a candidate from another party. Working full time as county commissioner has significantly decreased my ability to volunteer but my family continues to volunteer, support candidates financially and have even recruited friends and family to run for office.

3. What is the purpose of government?:

The purpose of government is to protect life, liberty, and property. As an elected official, it is my responsibility to protect and preserve the rights of the individual from another individual, group, or government regardless of who or how many benefit from the infringement of that individual’s rights.

4. Describe why you are running for this particular office. What are your qualifications? What are your goals?:

I am seeking reelection because I believe there is more I can do to serve the citizens and taxpayers. The experience I have gained over the past 5 years has made me even more sensitive to the forces that intend to take the rights of citizens locally and I will stand in the gap to protect them no matter the cost to me personally.

5. Describe experiences where you are or have been engaged such as non-profit organizations, clubs, churches, boards, commissions, etc., where you have been of service to others.:

I have served in multiple church ministries in the past 26 years. I am on my local water district board, served as an auxiliary board member for UGM’s Center for Women and Children, and as Chairman for the Kootenai County Aquifer Protection District.

6. Do you describe yourself as fiscally conservative? Please, elaborate.:

As taxpayers, we should only pay what is necessary to maintain the smallest size of government. When I make financial decisions, I always think about my neighbors and family who are paying for the spending I approve. I do not want to provide any more services than what is necessary or required by statute.

7. Do you consider yourself as socially conservative? Please elaborate.:

I believe the best way for a society to flourish and excel is with a solid family unit: one man married to one woman. Life on earth begins at conception and should be vigorously protected until natural death.

8. Describe which party platform best aligns with your positions on public policy (Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or Constitutional Party) and where do you disagree with that platform.:

Republican. I am not a fan of the death penalty as it cuts short the opportunity for the offender to repent and accept Jesus as their Savior. I do recognize society’s obligation to punish those committing heinous crimes so I do not advocate against the death penalty.

9. Do you have any history of tax liens, criminal record, bankruptcy or conflict of interest that may affect your future decisions or desirability to be voted into office?:

None.

10. Describe how you will make yourself available to your constituents and vote as their representative with FORTITUDE, adhering to the values and answers you have stated above.:

My record stands on how I have represented my constituents with fortitude and continue to do so. I have made decisions that have garnered backlash and have stuck to them. I weather personal and professional attacks almost daily now yet I continue to serve with integrity. I am not a Commissioner for my ego, but for the people I love and serve.

I help constituents weekly if not daily. They are free to email or call me. I try to respond within 24 hours as my schedule allows. I often speak with constituents after work hours.

Milton Friedman put it best: The fundamental threat to freedom is the power to coerce, be it in the hands of a monarch, a dictator, an oligarchy or a momentary majority.
