Deceptive North Idaho Organization Receives Cease and Desist Letter From Republican National Committee
For Immediate Release
An organization that has been masquerading as the “official” Republican Party in Kootenai County has been served a cease and desist letter by the Republican National Committee (RNC).
The Cease and Desist letter which was sent on June 2nd, 2023, came from the Counselor's Office of the RNC, and was sent to the organization “presented as ‘North Idaho Republicans,’ and ‘NIR PAC.’” The letter demands that they stop presenting themselves under the official Republican brand. The letter warned of the “campaign finance law implications for your county party, should an association be perceived between your entity and the national party committee.” In addition to the cease and desist letter, this self-appointed group was previously hit with the maximum fine allowed by law for campaign finance violations after they falsely claimed to be a non-profit while in fact operated as a Political Action Committee.
The self-appointed “North Idaho Republican” group was founded in 2022 by members who campaigned directly for Joe Biden. During the 2022 General Election this group attempted to deceive conservative voters by printing flyers that said “official” Kootenai Republican Party, but promoted the Democrat’s slate of liberal candidates for office. Members associated with this group have introduced confusion, division, and besmirched the reputation of the real Republican Party of Kootenai County, the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee (KCRCC) as well as the Idaho GOP.
The real Official Republican Party of Kootenai County, the KCRCC, applauds the RNC’s decision to protect the Republican brand, and welcomes their assistance in reducing the confusion wrought by this group in North Idaho.
KCRCC Chairman Brent Regan said “the KCRCC recognizes that organizations are absolutely free to form and engage in political discourse, but they may not falsely represent themselves as the ‘Official Republican Party.’”
Since its founding in 1854, the Republican Party has always stood for faith, family, freedom, prosperity, and opportunity. The KCRCC, the official Republican Party in Kootenai County, is proud to adhere to these traditional values that have been part of the Republican Party since its founding. The grassroots base of the Republican party are the precinct committeemen that are elected by their neighbors. Unlike self-appointed activist groups, the KCRCC has been elected by the people of Kootenai County to fight the corrupt political establishment, and drain Idaho’s swamp.
